Pep Guardiola wants Manchester City ‘to believe in themselves’ after win over Real Madrid

Pep Guardiola states Manchester City are”never used to doing such items” after his side won at Real Madrid for the first time to take control of their Champions League last-16 tie.
Isco had put Real ahead but also a Kevin de Bruyne punishment along with a Gabriel Jesus assault secured a 2-1 first-leg win.

“To succeed at the Bernabeu is a terrific satisfaction to us,” Guardiola said.
“It’s amazing to have the ability to triumph here for us because we aren’t utilised to doing such things.
“We hope that it will help us in the long run to believe in ourselves and also to be able to go to any stadium and play how we did against Actual”
Manchester City’s only previous stages were against Schalke, Basel along with Dynamo Kiev
Guardiola’s side are currently hoping to win the Champions League for the first time, with improved so much as the semi-finals only.
Real Madrid will be the most successful side in the history of the competition – winning it 13 days – and Guardiola accepts the tie is still far from over.
“It is just the initial part, it is three points,” explained the supervisor, whose side will probably sponsor Actual for the next leg on 17 March.
“If one group can overcome this circumstance, for experience, for that which, it’s this particular club, but naturally it’s a fantastic outcome.
“I am quite proud of course but it is only step one, we have yet another match, it is not over.”
The single downside for Manchester City on Wednesday has been the reduction of Aymeric Laporte to injury.
The protector played his fourth game since recovering from a knee problem that was severe but limped off midway through the half.
“He has had four or five months out and it’s a problem when you come back,” Guardiola explained.
